Pax and the sequel are masterpieces. My kids and I read Pax together, and it holds a special place for all of us. I just finished the sequel and am in awe! Thank you for these treasures. |

dear Sara Pennypacker I really love your book. One of my reasons are is how peter kept and kept working hard to find Pax. A other reason is how they builed there friend ship. One thing i noticed is the them is hard work and friendship. Friendship because pax brisal and runt became friends and kinda a family. Peter and vola became friends in an odd way and vola problly apricited the company when peter was there . Hard work because even though peter broke his leg he still kept working hard. A character thats like me is peter because he kept looking for something he loved and that was a part of he’s family and thats what i would do . My favorite part part was when peter found pax but left because he didn’t want pax for himself after he saw the family pax had made. 2 questions i have is is this book dedicated to your life and my other one is why would you want to write a book like pax? |

Hello, I’ve read your book PAX, I loved it. It was so detailed.My favorite part of the book was Peter and Pax were finding each other.My opinion about the book is it was amazing.Reason’s why are 1 The rising action where they were finding each other. 2 Pax was living in the wild. 3 Peter stayed at Vola’s house. I also have a few questions for you and they are ,one question I have for you is “what are marionettes?? “Two-“why were some of the chapter’s shorter?”

Dear Sara Pennypacker,
I really like your book Pax. Some reasons are, you really put in detail. Also you put strong vocabulary. When some people might put “pax wanted to go back to the other foxes.” Where you put “he looked down at his fox still straining to follow his new family.” While on the other hand I have one suggestion, each new chapter you either put a picture of pax or Peter. At first I was confused, but then I noticed the pictures of peter and pax. So in the future you might want to put words that say Peter’s chapter or Paxes chapter. I also noticed something anything that happened to Peter something like that happened to pax. I hope you take my suggestion,

Dear MS. Pennypacker,
I first picked up PAX in LA class because I heard good things about it. I can't really remember what was said because it was a while ago during covid, but years later I still wanted to read it. Then I saw the cover art, a simple yet detailed drawing of a fox looking out over a field. I started reading PAX, and I was hooked. But this is not a book about beauty. It is about conflict and heartbreak, but also about starting and repairing friendships. All leading to theme being do what you know is right
Conflict is everywhere. The main character Peter doesn't get along with his father, who is in the military and is about to leave home. There is a war going on and Peter’s father thinks they have to get rid of his pet fox because his grandfather cant take care of both of them. Peter’s heart is shattered. The animals in the forest are suffering too, for example when the coyotes attack the pack of foxes, and animals fall victim to human traps such as land mines.
At the same time people and animals become friends, for example Peter rests in a random barn not realizing it was inhabited by Vola. The two have some arguments but overall they became friends. Pax becomes friends with two other foxes named Vixen and Runt. Though they faced many hardships they still stick together. Through the whole book you use beautiful descriptions for example “He looked down at his fox, still straining to follow his new family. ‘Go. it's ok.’ It wasn't though. The pain scoured him hollow, left him without breath, like a kick to the heart.” page 275-276 “He and Pax. Inseparable He glanced around the room again, resisting the urge to run. He couldn't afford to lose anything.” page 20-21. These quotes show how urgently he decided to leave showing that he knew reducing pax was the right thing to do The themes of conflict and repair told through the story of a boy and his fox are very emotional. They are real problems that people experience every day. I went into the book expecting to read about a boy and his fox who are happy go lucky. The conflict coming out of the dark makes this story much more emotional and the conflicts not getting fully repaired make this a compelling story, just like real life.
