I’m a retired children’s librarian and also taught elementary school for many years before choosing to become a children’s librarian in a public library.
Your books …. each one a delightful and memorable treasure - for me, and for the countless children and adults I recommended them(and still do, in my non-working life!) to over these many years.
Recently my sweet 70 year old husband tucked “Pax” into his camping bag and came back home ever so grateful to have had such an incredible book to read while he was out in the wilds. We talked about “Pax” for hours.
I just finished your latest title and found myself reading more and more slowly as I progressed through it, because I didn’t want it to end!
My hands-down favorite book of yours is “Summer of the Gypsy Moths.” I can’t remember how many times I’ve read it and each time it moves me, surprises me and touches me so deeply.
One of my hopes is that you know what gifts you have given this world through your books. Another hope (this one more selfish in nature) is that you continue to write book after book after book …
Thank you for sharing your talents with all of us. I am deeply grateful, and I know hundreds and thousands of children and parents I have had the privilege and honor of knowing and working with over my 45+ year career feel the same. You have captured our hearts and minds! |

Hi Sara, I'm mom to a 9 year old daughter. We regularly participate in the summer reading program at our local library. At the end the children get a book to keep. After looking through what was available for her I was drawn to Pax. The beautiful illustration on the front. The black illustrations inside. The feel of the cover in my hands and the page edges. So wonderfully put together. We love animals and I thought this would likely be a great book. I'm so glad I picked it out for her! We are about halfway through. Have enjoyed all thus far! It also resonates with me deeply as I am a US Army Veteran that deployed to Iraq. I love Vola's character and her story of trying to find her truths. 💜 Of course I love Pax and Peter as well! |

I once had a dog named Pax, the Goddess of Peace. She was the longest I ever had a dog, but still, I didn't get to keep her. She is with a lovely couple now who have an older golden retriever. After, my mother gave me your book "Pax" and I didn't read it till now, almost a year later. My Pax is a reddish-golden retriever, a runt maybe, who loves peanut butter and cheering people up. Her name means peace just like the fox. I want to thank you for writing your book. I thought I was fine without her because I know she is alive and well elsewhere. But your book has reminded me how pets are like lifetime companions that snake their way into your heart. How two are like one. |

Querida, confesso que não havia escutado falar de você, mas, uma amiga que leu seu livro PAX, o primeiro, disse que estava triste porque queria ler o PAX 2, só que só tem em inglês.
Daí, fui pesquisar sobre o livro e quis saber mais da autora... Meu bem, que linda sua dedicação com o público infantil, sem agredir idade ou Tentativa em Mudar o rumo do tempo, de seu público alvo.
Bom, minha amiga chama-se Jessica Vieira, e ela tem um trabalho de amor com Criança, já tem um tempo, e tudo que trás o universo infantil ela gosta.
Espero que Deus toque seu coração, que seu anjo da guarda fale em seu ouvido para que haja um PAX 2 traduzido para o português/Brasil 🇧🇷

Our fifth grade class has just finished your book, Pax. They absolutely LOVED the book! I teach in a co-teach classroom that includes students with a variety of needs and I was amazed at how engaged all of my students were while reading this book! Our discussions in class were so inspiring and exciting! The students were so excited that they would approach me outside of school to discuss what had happened in the book and share their predictions for what was coming next. It was an experience that I will never forget and, I'm sure, will stay with my students for a long time as well.
Our class wrote letters to and drew pictures for you and would love to share them with you! As I perused your website, I didn't see a way for you to receive mail. Could you please reply with an address so that my sweet students can share their excitement and love for Pax?

Dear Mrs Penny packer, my name is Morgan and I am a fifth grade student at our school Ringold Elementary school in ringold Georgia my class is reading your book pax. my feelings about the book is, it is sad but I like it. My favorite character is pax and vola the reason why these two are my favorite chracters is they are both nice and carring. another reason why they are both my favorite is because pax is just so cute and vola is just loveing and carring. one of my favorite parts of the book is when pax finds the camp it is my favorite part because when he found the camp he found food and water wich makes me happy because that lets me know that pax is not going to starve to death. |
