Dearest Sara,
I am a Children's Librarian. I work for a very small system...but I SO enjoy purchasing books for our library. We had ordered PAX after we heard it was good... and Out of curiosity, as soon as the book came in... I opened the book... BOOM.I was hooked. I read that book and my heart spilled out on to the pages. I sobbed, and sobbed, and sobbed. Thank you for Pax. Thank you for your heart... I LOVE this book. I just sent one of my fellow 6th grade patrons out the door with the book and I smiled as she left. I said, "Now this will make you cry..but it's very good." She read the back and smiled and said, "I think I'll take this ONE." I applaud you for your gift of writing. Thank you. I recently read on here that Pax will be a film. I knew it... I just knew it. :) |

I'm 14, and I decided to read Pax because I love books that feature animals. This ended up to be an amazing read, boasting an interesting plot-line that kept me on my toes, and characters (or should I say, animals!) that took a grab at my heart. I feel more attached, usually, to animals than I do human characters, so this book was quite an emotional book for me indeed! Who knew such a story could fit in such a small book? The book was a sad book, yes, but it was sweet too, and I was rather happy with the ending although I wanted to cry. Thank you for writing such an amazing book that I got to read, a book that changed not only my outlook on nature, but my mindset as well! |

Sara, my daughter used to get car-sick. She couldn't read, draw, or do any of the things that kids do to distract themselves on long drives. Then, when my daughter was six, I found the Clementine audiobooks. The first book seemed like a fun, age-appropriate story that wouldn't upset her (typical plots create tension by threatening the characters, and she hates that). Clementine was a hit. She became so engrossed in your stories during our family trips that she never got sick. She'd listen to them on her iPod when at home, totally enamoured of this story of a little girl like herself. By the time my wife and I got around to buying her the books, she could recite them word-for-word without looking. Even better, my wife, old daughter and I could also enjoy the stories, so they became family entertainment.
Thank you for these wonderful stories. |

Just finished Pax. I was afraid to read it because it had the potential to be incredibly sad. But it wasn't, it was powerful and wise and hopeful. Thank you. |

I am a retired teacher, reading books for a committee. I wonder in what country Pax occurs? It is a wonderful story, written so well...thank you for being such a gifted author. I also enjoyed your Summer of the Gypsy Moths...both this and Pax were very difficult to put down. |
