Dear Mrs. Sara PennyPacker,
I just finished reading your AWESOME book: Pax!
I love some books but I do not really tend to read a lot but this book has been great and I loved reading this book!
You have been a great inspiration for me and I would LOVE to meet you!
If I will meet you, I would ask you some questions. These are my questions if I meet you or you could answer when you hopefully read it:
What was your favorite book that you have written in your life of writing books?
Did you enjoy writing your book: Pax?
How many times have you gone back and forth about writing the book that you want to write or the idea that you have?
I hope that you read this page that I wrote and I hope that you write me back!
Thanks Again,
❤Tessa Bailey❤ |

Dear Sara Pennypacker,
I loved your book very much, it was a great story, but maybe it was just a little too sad. But it taught me: self confidence and inspiration, it changed my thinking about foxes too. It told me that all animals deserve to be free and wild, to not be locked up and caged. It shows how animals should be thought about on how they feel about something. I even made a little novel about a lost kitten, I based it on your type of story line. The girl and her kitten were separated and met again at the end. I love the way you write, and have a talent in writing and drawing, I would also love to become an author or illustrator when I grow up. I will always value the great book PAX. You were always, and will be one of my favorite authors, just like J.K. Rowling and C.S. Lewis.

Dear Sara Pennypacker,
I loved your book, "PAX"! It was so amazing! But what was your favorite book you wrote, I have to ask you. Since I haven 't read your other books in a long time, was Jon Klassen the only partner you've worked with? What inspired you to write a book about foxes? and last and not least, what's your favorite |

Dear Sara Pennypacker,
I just read your book Pax, I think it was a very good book.
I especially like the way you made it so you could visualize the scene. I also like how there is a lot of drama and the love between Pax and Peter. I have a few questions First, how many books have you wrote? Also, how did you get the inspiration to write pax? What is the first book you ever wrote? Would you recommend one book you ever made for me to read? What is your favorite type of book?

Jackson, from Mrs. Boynton And Ms. Plummer |

Dear Sara Pennypacker, I loved your book , PAX. It touched me in a way that was happy and sad at the same time. This was an excellent book and hope that you keep on writing amazing books like this one. I have a few questions for you.
1. What ideas did you have to come up with a separation of a Fox losing his beloved Boy?
2. Did you ever lose someone in a family/ friend? Because I have a lot people in my family that I don’t really know who died before I was even born, but none after.
3. Have you ever written any other books like PAX , sad, happy,or adventurous? Because if you had would you recommend any books to me that are like PAX? That would be a pleasure.
4. By the way in my class we are writing books. Mine is about a girl named, Julia and she gets lost, called Lost In Times Square.
And to sum it all up into a crunched upped ball, I would gladly appreciate it if you would write back to me. I have one last question for you and it involves movies. Have any of your books been made into movies? If so could you tell me the name of the movies that maybe I could watch it? And like the book says, “Sometimes the apple may roll far from the tree.” Sincerely, Avery Baker from Mrs. Boyntons class at Pine Crest Elementary School.

Dear Ms. Pennypacker,
We really liked your book, Clementine! For our final project in our flexible reading groups, I chose to write the next chapter of Clementine. So I was really interested in it & I tried to write like you would & sound like Clementine. The chapter is included here. We hope you love it!

Today I woke up and my stomach hurts me from all that cake I ate yesterday, “MOM!, I can’t go with Margaret’s mother to her hairdresser, because my stomachs hurt me a lot” I said, but again she said “No, your stomach does not hurt you’re just lying, Clementine you can’t lie, maybe I should send you to Mrs. Jacobi, maybe she can teach you who do not lie again?” then after I heard that I jumped out of my bed and start doing gymnastics to show her that I’m not sick anymore but actually I was sick but I didn’t tell her that because she won’t believe anyway, but she said “I don’t know?” and what she always say, but and then I made to her my big pleasy face, and then with a laugh she said “Okay, I’m not going to send you to Mrs. Jacobi, but just if you didn’t lie again. Okay?” “Okay,” I said even though I didn’t lie, but I just did it, that called making your parents believe. but and then my brother came running and he hit me right on my stomach, so I threw up, but it was an awesome moment because now my mom can believe me, but still she didn’t care, she told me to clean it up, but before I went to bring a towel someone knocked the door my father went to see who was on the door. So I tried to see who was on the door but I can’t see anything because my dad covered the door. But here was my best moment it was Margaret and her mother on the door!, they came to our apartment because the three of us are going to the hairdressers. So now I don’t have to clean up my threw up. On the way to the hairdressers I played with Margaret in the car we played the game that called “Candy Land” and “The Crossover Maze” games. Did you know that even their car looks like a magazine picture! Can you believe that?. And then the car stopped and we were there, “MY GOODNESS!!!” I said, even the hairdressers was like a magazine picture!, Margaret’s family really weird because everything they have looks like a magazine picture. If I was one in their family I’m going to die because I can’t live in a apartment that looks like a magazine picture, plus, how can I live without an a open Clementine in my backpack from the last week for my snack?!?! Then my worst day came because there were a lot of pointy things around me! I almost cry but before I can cry I talked to Margaret’s mother “Um, can we please go back to our houses? because you know that I’m really scared of pointy things” I said, with an extra politely, “Uh-Oh, don’t worry Clementine you’re going to be fine” she told me, but still nothing changed to better it just changed to worst. So because Margaret’s mother was the one who had the hairdressers just for herself or if she was the boss of everyone, except Margaret because she’s the daughter of the boss or the manager we’re going to be the first ones. And now my worst day was right in the front of me because it was now my turn. When I sat down on the chair it was really soft it was even softer than my bed I almost sink in it and I almost fall asleep in it!!!!! After a moment I fell asleep “Clementine!!!Clementine!!!!!!” Margaret's mother said with a really-really loud voice “What was you thinking of?!?!” she said “What?” I said “Why don’t you tell me what?!?!” she said “Oh-uh, this chair was really soft so I just fell asleep in it” I said “Well if you want us to take some pillows out we could” she said “ No thank you it just good at how it is” I said “Are you sure?” she asked “Yes, thank you” I said with an extra politely “Mom-mom lets just start it’s not the time for that talk we have to finish fast Because I have to go to Amanda-Lee’s house to play with her, she told me that she have special things to show me, plus, she told me that she have something that let my hair grow again” Margaret told her mother “That can’t be true Margaret” Margaret’s mother told Margaret without even looking up at her “How do you know?” Margaret told her mother “Okay, I’m going to take you there after 1-hour” Margaret’s mother told Margaret “Okay,” Margaret said “Okay,” Margaret’s mother said with a laugh “Um, Margaret can I use the thing that Amanda-Lee’s going to give you for your hair?” I said “Um I don’t know, plus, Amanda told me that it’s just for the grown-ups not for the little babies” she said with a mean look and a mean voice especially when she was saying that it wasn’t for the little babies, but I didn’t care because know I’m nine too!! But she still saying that my birthday was the last week and my birthday was last week, still I don’t think that she’s telling me the truth because every week is my birthday. “But I’m a grown-ups” I said “No you’re not you’re just think that you are but still you’re not a grown-ups yet” she said, and that what she always say “But why?” I said “ because you’re not a grown-up” she said, and what she always say, and then I didn’t say anything else so Margaret’s mother won’t get anymore mad at me. So now I’m all sat and now it’s Margaret’s turn, after 30-mins Margaret was all sat too. So now we’re all going back to our houses except for Margaret because she’s going to Amanda-Lee’s house. After I went to my house my parents were sleeping so I went to our kitchen and to the window so I can watch for Margaret’s feet, after 2-hours I saw Margaret’s feet. So I ran out of my apartment to see Margaret and not just Margaret I also want to see that thing that going to let my hair grow again even though Margaret’s mother had helped me I still want another thing that going let my hair grow more faster, and that called making things grow more faster. After that I talked with Margaret and still she was saying that I’m not a grown-ups yet. Then a special idea popped right in my head and I told Margaret if I can have some of that thing but I’m not going to use it right now I’m going to use it when I’m a grown-ups (but I was just lying but I didn’t tell her that I was lying because otherwise she won’t give the thing to me) and then she told me “Yes” with a tired voice. So I just take it and I ran back to my apartment and my parents was awake so I showed them that thing that Margaret gave me. So after a few month my hair had grew again and there is a picture of that:
But I was sitting on the chair because I was really bored because I don’t know what to do or I don’t even have something to do, so the only thing I get to do is go to Margaret’s apartment maybe to play with her or to show her my hair or maybe I can even see her hair. So I went to the Elevator and I pressed the fifth floor button. After that I knocked Margaret’s door “Oh-Clementine did you come here to see Margaret?” Margaret’s mother asked “Yes please.” I said “Okay” she told me, “Margaret Clementine came to see you!” Margaret’s mother told Margaret from the downstairs “Okay! Tell her to come to my room upstairs!” Margaret told her mother. So I went to her room and her hair had really grew but not that long that it was but still it looks much better than mine because her hair is straight and mine is not because mine is curly her hair is all brushed up but mine is not because I’ll never brush my hair just ones in the month. So I talked with Margaret about her hair but here comes my worst part in our conversation “So Clementine how did your hair grew that fast without even using that thing that Amanda-Lee’s gave me? I mean you told me that you won’t use it and you will just save it with you until you’re a grown-ups, didn’t you told me that? Plus, my mom told me that the thing that she made it or did it in your head won’t let your hair grow that fast??” she said with a mean look and a mean voice but I didn’t got an answer yet but I just said um-um but and then she told me “Um-what!!” she said with a mean look and mean voice so I told her the truth but she start saying that she had notice that it wasn’t a good idea to give me that thing she also thinks that it wasn’t a good idea when she told her mother that she needs to go to Amanda-Lee’s house a loud, but I didn’t really care because at least I know that I’m a grown-up but I didn’t tell her that I was a grown-ups because I don’t want anymore troubles with her, and that called save the truth and telling the lie. After 30-mins I went back to my apartment But I’m not sure of one little thing it was that what if my hair’s going to grow really long even longer than Margaret’s hair because maybe I’m not a grown-ups yet and that thing that Amanda-Lee’s gave to Margaret and Margaret gave me some of it was just for the grown-ups?What if my hair going to grow really long do I have to cut it again and the same story going to redo? But still I didn’t care because I like the long hair, short hair and I even like myself without any hair on my head!!!!!! Still no gifts in the Math class.
Note from Mrs. Uthe - I wanted you to know what an inspiration you were to my student, Shadan. Shadan moved to the United States from Iraq in the Fall of 2015. Her English has grown remarkably since her arrival in the US and she has emerged as a talented reader & writer. She shared this "extra" chapter of Clementine at a PTA meeting and all of the parents in attendance were amazed with Shadan's writing & speaking skills, having only been in the US for such a short time. Thank you for taking the time to read this!!! |
