Dear Sara,
I'm a 35 year old mum of a 2 year old boy, who's middle name is Fox (a little bit after the cheeky car park fox that lives in the car park my office overlooks) - and every night I read him some books before he goes to sleep.
I've got to confess, I'd never heard of you and only bought the book because I thought it was a picture book about a fox illustrated by Jon Klassen, and I was half expecting to laugh as hard as I did while I read my little fox "I Want My Hat Back".
I was so surprised when Pax arrived - it was not was I was expecting at all.
It's the first book I've managed to read since I was pregnant - I devoured it - and was completely unable to stop the tears - so many emotions bubbled to the surface - I needed to know Peter and Pax would find each other, I needed to know they'd get home.
I am ashamed to admit I'm absolutely broken (the tears are still streaming out of me when I think of it) by the ending - I so badly wanted them to have a happy ever after.
I wish I had the words to put it more eloquently but I am GUTTED for Peter.
Thank you for writing such a beautiful book, I felt like my heart was breaking along with his. I really hope one day it's a book I can share with my own little fox. |

Hello Sara. I just finished reading PAX and loved it. I picked it up with no knowledge or your prior work as it was a rare book with foxes as the protagonist. At first, I enjoyed trying to determine where and when the story takes place but then the timeless topics took over and became far more than a fox story. Thank you! |
